Are all your treatments just Surgery?
No. We do not just rush into surgery.
We take the time to evaluate your healthcare problems, arrive at a diagnosis, and then work out the best treatment plan for you, which might not have to be surgery.
How long do I have to be in the hospital?
The length of hospital stay is influenced by a lot of factors which include the type of surgery done, its complexity, and other co-existing medical conditions. As a rule, we try not to keep you longer than you need to be in the hospital.
What can I ask my Surgeon?
Everything! We encourage to ask just about every question that you think will help clear all forms of doubt about your condition and care. If possible, you can jot them down in a book, and bring it to your consultation.
Why are there a lot of doctors treating me?
There are many team members that you’ll mee. Everyone has a specific job.
Surgical consent is discussed and completed in the surgeon’s office. Your surgical journey starts with seeing the surgeon and you deciding to have surgery.
The day of surgery you will meet the operating room team. A team of doctors and nurses will look after you in recovery before you are moved to your room where another team of workers will look after you till you are discharged.
The goal is to give you the best care that you need.
Is my health history important?
Yes it is. Your doctor will take a detailed history about your health. If you are reffered to us, your referring doctor will send us a summary of your history.
We also encourage you to share your health history with us even if it sounds trivial to you.
Will my surgeon tell me what he is going to do?
Yes. Your surgeon will discuss with you in detail your care plan, and all that it entails.
This is very important so that you undertand what you are going in for, and also be well informed to give an informed consent.
Can I go home immediately after surgery?
You will not be discharged home until your care team is sure that you will be able to take care of your own basic needs.
If you need care at home, this will be discussed with you before you go home.
Ask your doctor ahead of time, what kind of help you might need after you go home.
Can I come and visit my relative?
Yes you can but only during visiting hours.
